Data Accuracy & Corrections

Our Commitment to Accuracy
FoodRecallFinder.com aggregates and displays publicly available enforcement data from the FDA Recall Enterprise System via the openFDA API. We are committed to accurately reflecting official FDA records and take data accuracy seriously.
If you believe information displayed on this site does not match the current status on FDA.gov, we want to know. We review all correction requests and update our platform to match official FDA records where discrepancies are confirmed.
How to Request a Correction
To request a data correction, please email us at contact@foodrecallfinder.com with the following information:
- Your company name — the name of the brand or manufacturer
- The specific page URL — the exact FoodRecallFinder.com page you believe contains inaccurate data
- A link to the official FDA record — the specific FDA.gov page showing the current status
- A description of the discrepancy — what our site shows vs. what the official FDA record shows
Correction requests must be submitted by an authorized representative of the brand or manufacturer. We cannot process correction requests without official FDA documentation. All corrections are verified against the official FDA record before any changes are made to our database.
Our Review Process
When we receive a correction request we follow this process:
- We acknowledge receipt of your request within 24 hours
- We compare your claim against the official FDA record at FDA.gov
- If the official FDA record supports your correction we update our database at the next sync
- If our data matches the official FDA record we will explain this in our response
- We aim to complete all reviews within 5 business days of receiving complete documentation
What We Can and Cannot Change
We can update:
- Recall status (e.g. from Ongoing to Terminated) when the official FDA record reflects this change
- Recall counts if FDA records have been updated or corrected
- Any data field that does not match the current official FDA enforcement record
We cannot change:
- Historical recall records that accurately reflect what the FDA published at the time
- Data that matches the current official FDA record even if a company disputes the underlying FDA action
- Metrics such as recall velocity or severity index that are mathematical calculations derived from accurate FDA data
If you believe the underlying FDA record itself is inaccurate, you must contact the FDA directly at FDA.gov. We cannot alter data to contradict official government records.
Automatic Weekly Updates
Our database is refreshed weekly from the openFDA API. Many data changes — including recall status updates, new recall events, and resolved recalls — are automatically reflected in our database during the weekly refresh without requiring a manual correction request.
If you have recently seen a status change on FDA.gov that is not yet reflected on our site, it may simply not have been captured in our most recent sync. Check the last sync date in the footer of the relevant brand page and allow one full weekly cycle before submitting a correction request.
Response Time
We aim to respond to all correction requests within 5 business days. Response times may vary during periods of high volume. All requests are logged and tracked internally to ensure nothing is missed.
Please note that submitting a correction request does not guarantee a change to our database. All corrections are subject to verification against official FDA records.
